Project Safe Semester and Homecoming Enforcement Leads to Hundreds of Charges in Waterloo Region
Waterloo Regional Police issued over 625 charges during Project Safe Semester.
Running from September 3, 2026, to September 25, 2026, this campaign aims to promote the safety and wellbeing of university and college students.
The types and numbers of charges laid included the following:
During Homecoming-related events, Waterloo Regional Police laid an additional 96 charges, including:
- 35 Liquor Licence and Control Act offences
- 46 Highway Traffic Act offences
- 7 Criminal Code offences
A total of 96 Homecoming-related charges were laid by WRPS.
Although Project Safe Semester has concluded, Waterloo Regional Police will continue to conduct proactive enforcement in the university district and school zones to ensure everyone's safety.
