Waterloo Regional Police are seeking to identify an individual in connection with a series of online buy-and-sell frauds and thefts in Kitchener.

Between May 13 and September 4, 2026, police received several reports involving victims who had advertised items for sale through an online buy-and-sell platform.

In each incident, arrangements were made to meet in person to complete a transaction. During the interactions, the victims did not receive payment for the items and, in some instances, the suspect gained access to the victims’ banking applications and made unauthorized transactions. The resulting financial losses ranged from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Investigators are looking to identify and speak with the individual pictured below in connection with these incidents.

Waterloo Regional Police would like to remind residents to use caution when buying, selling, or trading property online.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service has three Buy and Sell Exchange Zones located in the parking lots of WRPS facilities. These locations are intended to provide additional peace of mind when meeting people to complete online transactions. 

Buy and Sell Exchange Zones are located at:

• North Division: 45 Columbia Street East, Waterloo
• Headquarters, front parking lot: 200 Maple Grove Road, Cambridge
• South Division: 176 Hespeler Road, Cambridge 

If attending an Exchange Zone is not possible, residents are encouraged to meet in a well-lit, public location, complete transactions during daylight hours, bring another person when possible, limit the amount of personal information shared, and inspect items before exchanging money.
