WRPS Charge Driver after Collision Involving LRT in Kitchener
The Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a collision in Kitchener.
On November 21, 2024, at approximately 9:40 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a Dodge vehicle and an ION Light Rail Transit (LRT) vehicle on King Street West.
The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old Toronto male, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger of the LRT reported no physical injuries.
The roads and rail line were closed for several hours while officers conducted the investigation and repairs were completed.
As a result of the investigation, the 31-year-old male driver was charged with the following:
- Careless driving
- Turn- not in safety
- Drive- hand-held communication device
